You Went Too Far! — Anthony Checks Wayne in Heated Call Over Song Drama π‘
[Scene opens — Anthony is pacing the living room, phone in hand. Amber watches from the couch.]
Amber: What’s the matter?
Anthony: (half distracted) Oh, I stepped on something earlier.
Amber: Let me see.
Anthony: (smirking) Can’t.
Amber: (frowning) You’re not joking.
Anthony: I am joking. My foot’s fine. But… now that I think about it, I need to call Wayne.
Amber: Right now?
Anthony: Yeah. No time like the present.
(Anthony scrolls through his phone, hits “Call.”)
Anthony: Yo, Country Wayne.
Wayne: Anthony! What’s up, brother?
Anthony: Nothing much, man. Amber let me hear that song you dropped.
Wayne: Oh yeah? How you like it?
Anthony: Honestly? I got some reservations about it.
Wayne: (calm) Yeah, me and Amber talked. I told her — it’s not personal, it’s business. Just something that came to my mind.
Anthony: Yeah, but you don’t think you went a little too far with it?
Wayne: (pauses) No, not really. It’s art. You mix pieces of truth with imagination, put a beat under it, make it sound good. That’s the craft.
Anthony: Wayne… art or not, there’s still integrity.
Wayne: And I feel like I kept mine. Bro, you know me. We’re like brothers. It was inspired by truth, sure, but it’s no different than my comedy — I tell jokes about my baby mama, they’re true, but I can take it just as much as I dish it out.
Anthony: But you could’ve talked to me first. Just out of consideration.
Wayne: Fair. But tell me — what part of the song really bothered you?
Anthony: You really want to know? The part about “getting her smile back.” That was aimed at me.
Wayne: Honestly? That wasn’t even about Amber. At that point, I was just thinking about a girl in general. If I’d known it would hurt you, I’d have worded it different. But I’m not making songs for Amber — I’m making them for the world.
Anthony: I hear you. But as her husband, I had to address it. Man to man.
Wayne: And I respect that. No hard feelings.
Anthony: Cool. We’re good then.
Wayne: Always, bro.
(They hang up. Anthony exhales, setting the phone down.)
Amber: So… all good?
Anthony: Yeah. Just had to clear the air. Nothing crazy.
Amber: He thinks being a comedian gives him a right to say anything.
Anthony: (grinning) Girl, stop. Go get in the shower and clean up. You know I like my food clean before I eat it.
Amber: (laughs) You’re nasty.
Anthony: And you love it.
(Fade out.)
