Shayla SLAMS Anthony Failing Kai Like His Dad Failed Him – A Generational Curse! 😡
[Scene: Shayla calls Anthony late evening. He picks up with that guilty tone.]
Anthony: Hello…
Shayla: Hello? Why you answering the phone like you half-dead, Anthony? You busy or you just avoiding me again?
Anthony: No, I ain’t avoiding you, Shayla. What’s up?
Shayla: What’s up? Don’t “what’s up” me. I just wanna know why you STILL haven’t sent the money for Kai’s birthday party. Didn’t I tell you I needed that deposit days ago? I’m running around doing everything by myself while you… what? Sitting with Amber acting like life is all good?
Anthony: Shay, I got sidetracked. I told you I’ma handle it.
Shayla: [laughs bitterly] Sidetracked? That’s your excuse? You got sidetracked from your own son? Anthony, you got time for Amber, you got time for Wayne, you got time to play both sides—but when it comes to Kai, you can’t even send a simple payment?
Anthony: Don’t act like I don’t do nothing for my son.
Shayla: [snaps] DO NOTHING?! Boy, stop lying to yourself. If Kai was really your priority, the money would’ve been here already. You had one job. Just one. And here I am—planning, booking, stressing—while you sitting back making excuses.
Anthony: Shayla, I told you, I’ma get you the money. You acting like I ain’t—
Shayla: Acting? No, Anthony, this is reality. And let me tell you something that’s been eating me alive. Every time I look into Kai’s eyes, I see the same disappointment I used to see in YOUR eyes when your daddy let you down.
Anthony: [pauses, voice low] Don’t bring my dad into this…
Shayla: Oh, I’m bringing him up. Because history is repeating itself. Your daddy wasn’t there when you needed him, and now here you go, passing that same pain down to your son. It’s a generational curse, Anthony. You carrying it in your blood.
Anthony: Shay… don’t say that. I’m not my father.
Shayla: Then PROVE it. Stop talking, stop making promises, and just do the right thing. Your son don’t need another broken word, he needs action. He needs his father PRESENT, not absent. You think I don’t notice the pattern? You think I don’t see the boy already starting to feel it?
Anthony: [frustrated] I said I’ll handle it! I ain’t gonna fail my boy.
Shayla: [calm but cold] Then send the money. Send it NOW. No more excuses. No more “sidetracked.” No more generational curses. Break it, Anthony. Be the man Kai needs you to be, not the man your father was.
Anthony: [silent, ashamed] …All right. I’ll send it.
Shayla: Good. Because one day, Kai will look at you and either say, “My daddy was there for me”… or “My daddy failed me just like his own daddy did.” The choice is yours.
[She hangs up. Anthony stares at his phone, guilt written all over his face.]
