Mrs. Brody Jabs Anthony in the Forehead 😮 Amber Better Than Shayla?
[Scene opens in Shayla’s living room. Anthony has just finished saying Amber is better for him. The tension is suffocating.]
Mrs. Brody: (steps closer, eyes blazing) Excuse me, Anthony… what did you just say?
Anthony: (takes a breath, standing firm) I said Amber is better for me. That’s the truth.
Mrs. Brody: (scoffs, jabbing her finger against his forehead, sharp like a slap) Better than Shayla?! 👊😳 Better than my daughter? After all she’s sacrificed for you?
Anthony: (grimacing, stepping back) Ma’am, don’t put your hands on me like that.
Mrs. Brody: Oh, I’ll put my hands wherever I please when it comes to protecting my child. You’ve taken enough from Shayla. You’ve broken enough! And now you stand here, wearing that ring, parading around talking about Amber like she’s some prize you earned?!
Shayla: (nervously) Mom, please, calm down.
Mrs. Brody: No, Shayla! (points at Anthony) He needs to hear this. He walks in here talking about my son, my son, but forgets you’re the woman who stood by him through hell. And then has the audacity to say Amber is better?!
Anthony: (clenching fists, holding back anger) I didn’t come here for this. I came to see Kai, not to fight.
Mrs. Brody: (jabs his forehead again, harder this time) Then why don’t you act like a father instead of running back and forth between women?! 👊
Anthony: (snatches her hand mid-air before she can jab again) Enough! I’ve been patient, I’ve been respectful, but don’t test me.
Kai: (looking worried) Daddy?
Anthony: (softens instantly, turning to Kai) Hey, son. It’s okay. Daddy’s fine.
Mrs. Brody: (pulls her hand back, voice dripping with venom) You don’t deserve to call yourself “Daddy” in this house. Not when every choice you make cuts deeper into Shayla’s heart.
Anthony: (lowers his voice, firm) With all due respect, Mrs. Brody… I don’t need your approval. I love my son. And yes, Amber is better for me. That’s my truth. You can jab me, slap me, curse me out, but it won’t change that.
Shayla: (tears in her eyes) Stop it! Both of you, stop it! This isn’t about me, it isn’t about Amber—it’s about Kai. And right now, all he sees is anger.
Mrs. Brody: (huffs, crossing arms) Maybe he needs to see it, so he knows what kind of man his father really is.
Anthony: (staring at her, jaw tight) No. He’ll see a man who takes care of his responsibilities… no matter what anyone thinks.
[Silence. The air is heavy. Kai hugs Shayla’s leg, confused. Anthony straightens his back, looks at Shayla one last time, and turns to leave.]
Mrs. Brody: (calling after him) Run again, Anthony! That’s all you’re good at! Running!
Anthony: (pauses at the door, glances back coldly) Maybe running is better than saying what I really want to say right now.
[He exits. Shayla holds Kai tight. Mrs. Brody mutters under her breath, shaking her head, while Shayla just looks broken.]
