Anthony Stunned : Amber Says Wayne Told Her About His Secret Theater Deal! ๐ฎ
[Scene: Inside the theater office. Anthony is sitting at the desk going through papers when Amber walks in, clearly heated.]
Amber: Anthony… we need to talk.
Anthony: (looking up, surprised) Amber? What’s wrong with you? You look like you ready to fight.
Amber: (crossing arms) Oh, I am ready. Tell me something, Anthony—why am I hearing from Wayne of all people that you’re out here trying to sell the theater?
Anthony: (eyes widen, stammering) Wait… what? Wayne told you that?
Amber: (steps closer, voice sharp) Don’t play dumb with me. Yes—Wayne. He came to me like, “Amber, did Anthony tell you he’s working on a deal for the theater?” And my mouth just about dropped. Why am I finding this out through Wayne and not from you?
Anthony: (sits back, stunned) Damn. I… I didn’t think Wayne would say anything. I—Amber, listen, I was gonna tell you.
Amber: (laughs bitterly) Oh, you were gonna tell me? When, Anthony? After the ink dried on the papers? After you packed up the seats and the stage lights?
Anthony: (defensive) No, it’s not like that. I just… I wasn’t sure yet. It’s still in the process, nothing final. I didn’t want to stress you out until I knew for sure.
Amber: (throws her hands up) Stress me out? We’re supposed to be partners! You don’t get to make big moves behind my back. What part of “we” do you not understand?
Anthony: (sighs, rubbing his forehead) Amber, it’s not about “we.” This is about being smart. The theater’s good now, but what about tomorrow? You know how hard it is to keep events booked. What if another pandemic hits? We’d be sitting here with a building bleeding money.
Amber: (steps right up to his desk, glaring) But we’re making money now, aren’t we? People are coming in. Shows are happening. Business is good. So why sell something that’s already working?
Anthony: (hesitant) Because… because I don’t want to wait until it’s not working. Sometimes you cash out while you’re ahead.
Amber: (shakes her head in disbelief) No. Sometimes you hold onto the blessing you’ve been given. You taught me that, Anthony. Remember? You said if something is making money, it’s an asset. You don’t just throw it away.
Anthony: (softly) I know what I said… but things change.
Amber: (eyes narrow, voice sharp) You’re right. Things do change. And you know what’s about to change? The way I trust you. Because if Wayne hadn’t said something, I would’ve never known about this. That’s foul, Anthony.
Anthony: (looking guilty, lowers his head) Amber, I messed up. I should’ve told you first. I just thought—
Amber: (cuts him off) Thought what? That I couldn’t handle it? That I didn’t deserve to know? We are in this together. Not you, not me. WE. And if you keep forgetting that, you’re not just gonna lose a theater—you’re gonna lose me too.
[Silence. Anthony sits frozen, stunned, as Amber storms out of the office.]
