Angelina SNAPS: Don’t Switch Up on Kai for Amber - Stop Treating Him Like Second Best! ๐ก
[Scene opens in Shayla’s living room. Anthony walks in, holding his keys like he’s already planning to leave.]
Anthony: (sighs) “I just came to see my son, that’s it. Why every visit gotta feel like a boxing match with you, Angelina?”
Angelina: (arms crossed, fire in her eyes) “Boxing match? Boy, please. If this was a fight, you would’ve been knocked out in the first round. I’m not swinging at you, Anthony—I’m defending Kai. Somebody has to.”
Anthony: (defensive) “What are you even talking about? I’m here, aren’t I? I came to see him.”
Angelina: “Oh yeah? Here for two minutes, standing by the door like you Uber Eats? Kai doesn’t need a drive-by daddy. Sit down. Be present. Play with your son. That’s what he remembers—not you rushing back to Amber like she got a timer on you.”
Anthony: (grits his teeth) “Amber ain’t got nothing to do with this. My son is my number one priority.”
Angelina: (laughs, sarcastic) “Priority? Chile, please. If Kai’s your number one, why does it look like Amber’s the MVP and Kai’s sittin’ on the bench waiting to get subbed in? Don’t you see what that does to a child? You can’t switch up on him just because your wife’s calling the plays.”
Anthony: (voice raises) “I’m not switching up! Y’all keep twisting everything I do. I love my son. I’m doing the best I can.”
Angelina: (steps closer, pointing her finger) “Best you can? Don’t insult us with that weak excuse. You promised Shayla you’d be a man, a father, a rock for Kai. But the second Amber stepped in, suddenly your visits got shorter, your calls less frequent, and your excuses longer. That ain’t a rock—that’s a rolling stone.”
Shayla: (from the couch, quietly but firmly) “She’s right, Anthony. Kai notices. He asks why you don’t stay. He asks if you love him less now. Do you know how hard that is for me to answer?”
Anthony: (looks down, guilt in his face) “Shayla… it’s not like that. I love him.”
Angelina: (cutting him off) “Then PROVE IT. Don’t just say it. Actions, Anthony. Kai doesn’t need promises, he needs presence. Stop treating him like second best because of Amber’s feelings. He’s your son, not some afterthought you squeeze in when your schedule’s free.”
Anthony: (silent, conflicted, glances at Kai playing quietly in the corner)
Kai: (looking up, hopeful) “Daddy, you wanna play football with me?”
Angelina: (softens, but still firm) “There’s your answer, Anthony. No speeches needed. Just pick up the ball and show him you mean it.”
Anthony: (hesitates, then finally sets his keys down and kneels) “Yeah, buddy. Let’s play.”
[Shayla exhales in relief, Angelina nods with a “finally” look. The tension lingers, but the message is clear: Kai comes first.]
