You Slept with My Best Friend — And Had a BABY! Amber DEMANDS a Divorce from a Shattered Anthony!π
[INT. AMBER’S FRONT PORCH – EVENING]
Amber is halfway out the door with her purse in hand when Anthony suddenly steps into view. His eyes are red. She freezes.
Amber:
What are you doing here, Anthony?
Anthony:
Amber, please. Just... give me five minutes. That's all I ask. Five minutes.
Amber:
There’s nothing to say. We’ve said it all already.
Anthony:
No, no. Not like this. Please look at me. Just look at me.
Amber hesitates, then slowly turns to face him.
Anthony (voice cracking):
I’m sorry. I didn’t know Shayla was coming that day. I didn’t plan that mess. I didn’t mean to hurt you. I swear.
Amber:
You didn’t mean to hurt me? You think that makes it better?
Anthony:
No, but I need you to know I would take it back if I could. I made the worst mistake of my life, and I hate myself for it.
Amber (tears welling up):
Anthony, do you even realize what you did? You didn’t just cheat. You slept with my best friend. And then you got her pregnant.
Anthony bows his head in shame.
Amber (voice rising):
Do you know what it feels like waking up every day knowing that betrayal is permanent? That baby is forever. That betrayal is forever.
Anthony:
I know, and I hate myself every day. But we can get through this. We can heal.
Amber:
No. We can’t. Because I’d be miserable in a marriage with you. You said you loved me, remember?
Anthony (softly):
I do. I do love you.
Amber (firmly):
Then if you love me... set me free. Let me walk away from this chaos. Let me find peace without being reminded every day that my husband fathered a child with my ex-best friend.
Anthony:
Amber, please don’t do this. We can go to counseling. We can try. I’ll cut Shayla off. I’ll—
Amber (cuts him off):
Cut her off? You can’t. You have a child with her. You’ll always be connected. And I’ll always be the woman who stayed. The fool who stayed.
Anthony (on the verge of tears):
So that’s it? After everything?
Amber:
Yes. That’s it. This marriage—it died the moment you crossed that line. I’ve filed the divorce papers. I’m done.
Anthony (drops to his knees):
Amber, please. Don’t leave me. I’ll do anything. Just please... don’t give up on us.
Amber (coldly):
I didn’t give up. You did. The moment you betrayed me, you made that choice. Now I’m making mine.
She walks past him slowly, leaving Anthony broken on the porch. The door closes behind her.
[FADE OUT.]
