INT. ANTHONY'S APARTMENT – MORNING
Anthony stands in the kitchen, shirtless, humming while making coffee. Amber walks in wearing his t-shirt, smirking.
Amber:
Mmm… you always hum when you’re guilty.
Anthony (grinning):
Guilty of what? Making the best coffee in Atlanta?
They laugh. Amber sits on the counter, sipping from his cup.
Amber:
Last night was… unexpected.
Anthony:
Yeah, but it felt right.
Just then, the door swings open. Piarry barges in, eyes wide with energy and trouble.
Piarry:
Well, well, well… Look at y’all. All cozy and caffeinated.
Anthony (startled):
Piarry, you don’t knock?
Piarry:
Didn’t have time. I got news. Big news. Shayla’s back.
Amber (freezes):
Back? From where?
Piarry:
Chile, I don’t know! The moon, Mars, or wherever broken baby mamas go to plan chaos. But she popped up at Trina’s shop this morning—loud, cute, and clueless.
Anthony (rubbing his temples):
Oh, God…
Amber (tense):
Does she know… anything?
Piarry (eyes narrowing):
Not yet. But let’s just say if Shayla finds out you were tucked up with Amber last night, she gon’ flip harder than pancakes at a soul food brunch.
Anthony (defensive):
Look, me and Shayla been over. We not together. I can be with who I want.
Piarry (sarcastic):
Sure you can. But explain that to the woman still calling you "baby daddy" like it’s a love title. Shayla still think y’all co-parenting means late-night check-ins and birthday cuddles.
Amber (calm but firm):
So what now? We hide? Lie?
Piarry:
Nah. I just came to tell y’all before Shayla hears it from somebody else. Atlanta’s small, and people talk. You know Trina’s shop is like CNN for baby mamas.
Anthony (sighs):
I can handle Shayla. I just… didn’t expect her to pop up now.
Piarry (crosses arms):
Timing’s a witch, huh? Especially when your ex walks in right after you get done playing house with your next.
Amber:
We didn’t ask for this drama.
Piarry:
Honey, you don’t gotta ask for drama when you dating Anthony. It comes pre-packaged.
There’s a beat of silence. Anthony looks out the window, tension building.
Anthony (muttering):
Guess I gotta talk to her before she finds out the wrong way.
Piarry (heading for the door):
Good idea. Because if Shayla finds out from the streets… she might not just pop up next time. She might pop off.
She slams the door behind her. Amber and Anthony exchange a look. Coffee’s gone cold.
