Try It & I’ll Snatch Your Soul!” — Brittany Tells Amber: “You Better NOT Fall for That Lying King Anthony!” π
INT. AMBER’S LIVING ROOM – EVENING
The soft hum of the ceiling fan filled the silence as Amber curled up on the couch, scrolling through her phone. Her brows were furrowed—deep in thought, distracted, and unusually quiet. That’s when Brittany came through the door unannounced, holding a half-finished iced coffee and looking like she was on a mission.
BRITTANY:
“Mmm-hmm. I knew something was off. You been acting too calm for somebody surrounded by chaos.”
AMBER:
(Sighs) “Hey, Britt. I’m just... thinking, that’s all.”
BRITTANY:
“Uh-huh. Thinking? Or daydreaming about that lying king Anthony again?”
(She flops down on the couch with dramatic flair.)
Amber doesn’t answer right away, and that silence speaks volumes.
BRITTANY:
(Sits up straighter, eyes wide)
“Girl, don’t tell me you thinking what I THINK you thinking.”
AMBER:
(Nervously) “Look, I’m not saying I like him or anything... I just—he’s been nice lately. That’s all.”
Brittany stares at her like she’s grown a second head.
BRITTANY:
“You BET not, sis. Don’t make me snatch that soul right outta you! We not doing this today—not with Anthony.”
AMBER:
(Softly) “He apologized for what happened with Shayla... and he said he’s trying to change.”
BRITTANY:
(Laughs so hard she nearly chokes)
“Change?! Girl, Anthony couldn’t change his socks without drama, let alone his ways. He’s the same dude who had Shayla crying at the baby shower, remember?”
Amber winces at the memory. It wasn’t a pretty scene.
AMBER:
“People can change, Britt.”
BRITTANY:
(Squinting)
“Yeah, and snakes can grow wings too. But we don’t see no flying pythons in the sky, do we?”
Amber stifles a smile, but Brittany’s serious expression brings her back to reality.
BRITTANY:
“Let me be clear, because I love you—Anthony is that dude who shows up in a suit and talks like he’s a changed man, but soon as you believe him, BOOM—drama explosion. Ask Shayla. Ask Ernestine. Ask the barista at Starbucks who saw him with two different women in the same week!”
AMBER:
(Surprised) “Wait, what?”
BRITTANY:
“Oh yeah, girl. I got eyes and ears in the streets. One minute he’s buying a latte with Vanessa, the next minute he’s holding hands with Piarry like he’s in a Hallmark movie. Meanwhile, you over here catching feelings?”
Amber looks away, ashamed.
AMBER:
“I’m not catching feelings. I’m just... thinking maybe he deserves a second chance.”
BRITTANY:
(Shooting up from the couch)
“Try it—and I’ll snatch your soul myself! I will personally drag you outta whatever fantasyland you in. You want a second chance? Give one to yourself. Not to the man who left Shayla and still don’t know what he wants.”
AMBER:
“He said he wants peace now... and he sees me differently.”
BRITTANY:
“Yeah, ‘differently’ as in: fresh prey. You a whole new challenge for him now. He ain’t in love—he’s in hunt mode. And the second you let your guard down, he’ll tear your peace apart like it’s made of paper towels.”
Amber bites her lip, the words cutting deep. Part of her knows Brittany is right, but another part of her—the part that remembers Anthony’s smile and the way he said her name like it meant something—is hesitant to let go of the possibility.
AMBER:
“What if... just what if he’s serious this time?”
BRITTANY:
(Dead serious)
“Then let him be serious from a distance. Let him prove that to the whole world without dragging you into it. Because until then, I’m not letting you go down that rabbit hole. Not with him.”
AMBER:
(Sighs) “You always act like you gotta protect me.”
BRITTANY:
“Because I DO. I’ve seen you fall, Amber. I’ve seen you believe in people who barely believe in themselves. But Anthony? He’s not just risky—he’s a full-blown category 5 hurricane in human form.”
Amber finally puts the phone down and really looks at Brittany—her fierce loyalty, her unfiltered passion, her refusal to let her friend make another mistake.
AMBER:
“Okay... I hear you.”
BRITTANY:
(Leans back, arms folded)
“Good. Now let’s talk about somebody who actually deserves you. You remember that sweet guy from the gym? The one with the dimple and the protein shakes?”
AMBER:
(Laughing) “Girl, he’s shorter than me in heels.”
BRITTANY:
“So?! Short kings need love too! At least he won’t lie, cheat, and cry in the same week.”
They both burst into laughter.
AMBER:
“Thanks, Britt. For real. I needed that.”
BRITTANY:
“Always. I’d rather lose my lashes than let you lose your mind over Anthony again.”
As the two friends lounge together, the mood shifts. There’s clarity now. No more daydreams about the “Lying King.” No more secret crushes on what could’ve been. Just real talk, strong sisterhood, and a promise to look out for each other.
Because sometimes, love isn’t found in sweet words or second chances—it’s found in the friend who refuses to let you fall.
