She’s Still My Wife! - Anthony Snaps and Tells Amber He’s Reclaiming Shayla π€π
[INT. AMBER’S LIVING ROOM – LATE AFTERNOON]
The sun dipped low behind the blinds. The tension inside the room, however, was just rising. Amber sat on the edge of the couch, arms folded, eyes cold. Anthony paced in front of her, clearly agitated, as if words had been sitting on his chest for too long.
Amber:
“You look like you’re about to explode, Anthony. Just say what you came here to say.”
Anthony:
(Stops pacing)
“I want her back.”
Amber:
(Snarling)
“Her who?”
Anthony:
“Don’t play dumb with me. Shayla.”
Amber:
(Laughs bitterly)
“You’re unbelievable. After everything? After the lies, the disrespect… you want her back now?”
Anthony:
“She’s still my wife, Amber! You keep forgetting that.”
Amber:
(Standing up)
“Oh no, I don’t forget. I can’t forget, because she’s the reason you keep running hot and cold on me. I’ve been nothing but real with you, Anthony. I’ve been here!”
Anthony:
“Yeah, you’ve been here. But I’ve been in pieces. Every time I see Kai, every time I hear Shayla’s name, something in me just breaks again. And it ain’t because I hate her… it’s because I still love her.”
Amber:
(Tears brimming)
“You’re telling me this now? After you told me you were done?”
Anthony:
“I thought I was. I tried to be. God knows I tried to hate her. But every road I walk down leads back to Shayla. I can't fake it with you, Amber. I won't.”
Amber:
“You won’t fake it, but you will shatter me?”
Anthony:
(Lowers his voice)
“I never meant to hurt you. But it’s been eating me alive, pretending I moved on when I haven’t. When I saw her yesterday at that cookout with Arby… holding Kai like that… my heart just stopped.”
Amber:
(Scoffs)
“So that’s it? You saw her looking happy and now you're jealous?”
Anthony:
“It ain’t jealousy. It’s real. I let her go too easy. I watched another man step into the life I should’ve been fighting for. That’s not me anymore.”
Amber:
(Staring)
“So what now, Anthony? You knock on Shayla’s door, pour your heart out, and what? Expect her to drop everything and come running?”
Anthony:
“I don’t know what she’ll do. I just know I have to try. I owe it to myself. I owe it to her.”
Amber:
(Voice trembling)
“Do you even know what you’re walking back into? That woman’s been through hell. And you think a few sweet words can undo the damage?”
Anthony:
“No. But I’m not coming with sweet words. I’m coming with change. I’m coming with fight.”
Amber:
(Steps closer, face inches from his)
“You think she’ll believe you?”
Anthony:
“I don’t care if she doesn’t believe me at first. I’ll prove it. Day after day. I’ll earn her back.”
Amber:
“And what about me? You just walk away from this… from us?”
Anthony:
“There never was an ‘us,’ Amber. Not really. Not when my heart’s been somewhere else the whole time. That’s not fair to you.”.
Amber:
(Tears falling freely now)
“No. It’s not. But it’s the first honest thing you’ve said to me in months.”
A heavy silence falls between them. Anthony looks at her, torn, but resolute. Amber wipes her tears and forces herself to be strong.
Amber:
“Then go. Go fight for your little fairytale, Anthony. But don’t come back here when it all crashes down.”
Anthony:
(Softly)
“I won’t need to.”
He walks toward the door, hand on the knob, when Amber speaks one last time.
Amber:
“And Anthony…”
Anthony:
(Turns slowly)
“Yeah?”
Amber:
“She may still be your wife on paper… but she’s not the same woman who cried for you at night. That Shayla? You broke her.”
Anthony:
(Quietly)
“Then maybe it’s time I help her heal.”
Anthony exits, closing the door softly behind him. Amber stands alone in the room, breathing hard, staring at the door like it just took a part of her soul with it.
[INT. SHAYLA’S FRONT PORCH – EVENING]
The porch light flickers as Shayla rocks Kai gently on the swing. She hums a soft tune until she hears footsteps. She looks up — and there he is. Anthony.
Shayla:
(Flatly)
“What are you doing here?”
Anthony:
(Takes a deep breath)
“I’m not here to argue. I’m not here to confuse you. I’m here to say… I want to come home.”
Shayla:
(Shocked)
“You want what?”
Anthony:
“I want my family back. I want you back.”
Shayla:
(Laughs dryly)
“You have some nerve.”
Anthony:
“Yeah, I know. I do. But you’re still my wife, Shayla. And I’m done pretending I can live without you.”
Shayla:
(Looking down at Kai, then back at him)
“We’re not the same people, Anthony. Too much has happened.”
Anthony:
“Then let’s become new people. Together.”
Shayla:
“You left me when I needed you most. You looked me in my face and chose silence over support. Now you want to talk about healing?”
Anthony:
“I was broken, Shayla. But I’m standing now. And I’m ready to fight.”
Shayla:
(Tears welling up)
“You better be ready. Because this time… I won’t make it easy.”
Anthony:
“I don’t want easy. I want you.”
